Brown the Sausage In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage completely. Do not drain the grease.
Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir well. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly to cook out the raw flour taste.
Slowly pour in the warmed milk, about 1/2 cup at a time, stirring after each addition until the mixture is smooth.
Once all milk is added, reduce heat to medium-low. Let the gravy simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until thick and creamy.
Add black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
If the gravy becomes too thick, add a splash of milk. If it is too thin, continue to simmer for a few more minutes.
